Links

The following is a list of mainly poetry-related links. Nothing special - just some sites I have visited.

Atomic Petals - I was in this, once.

Belle de Jour - Diary of a London call girl. This is a superbly written Blog (what's a Blog? It's a cross between a bog and a log), consistently compelling in its description of London life, but with lots of sex, too. But it's not prurient. Honest, even those nice people at the Guardian gave her the 'knitted cardigan award for best written blog by someonewho gets out of the house at least once a week' award.

www.b3ta.com - OK, this isn't poetry. It's a site where people send in wierd little animations and Photoshopped visual puns. It sometimes makes me laugh a lot.

Bob Dylan Lyric Search
- This is cool, if you're a fan. I wouldn't really say it's poetry, but I just love his attitude and delivery.

Bonna.com - They say great oaks from little acorns grow. Well, this is a very little acorn.

Comrades - Ooo - I was in this once and I was published in their anthology, Uno. Real paper and everything!

Dictionary of Slang - What a fanatastic site! A truly comprehensive, un-coy guide to UK slang, run I think by an academic. And guess what - you can contribute, too. I am proud to have contributed the phrase 'Badly Packed Kebab'.

Dylan Thomas - Yes, I know, it's an industry. I think I bookmarked this site so that I could download audio and make my computer say 'do not go gentle into that good night' everytime I logged out. Only works in Netscape, for some reason...

Harpold.com - I adapted a free template from this Harpold page to make my site (see also the Webmonkey link below).

Liana.org.uk - I found this poem, 'Field', among my bookmarks. It's not perfect but I think I just really liked the tone of it. The homepage is here.

Magma - my poem, Transatlantic, appeared in issue 25 of this mainly print magazine with a small web presence. I was very pleased, and was part of a launch reading at the Troubadour poetry cafe on the evening of 3 February! My, but I was intense. Nice venue, if ever you're in the area.

Melic Review - This is an e-zine, but I visit mainly to participate in the poetry board thingy. This is one of the best, with some knock-out submissions and very intelligent reading/criticism of submitted poetry. A great way to make sure you're on top of your game.

Macclesfield Auto Bodies - the owner of this fine establishment, Rob, saved my Beemer from certain death after an unfortunate incident when a clear road suddenly swerved under my car causing an impromptu cross country session. He is the Najinsky of crash repairs - an artist (not the racehorse, obviously. I mean, how would he hold the spanners?).

Pandora's Collective - Sita Carboni, who edits the website of this Canadian writers group, contacted me over the net to ask if she could include me in the poets directory. So I thought I'd better link back to them. I mean, it's be rude not to...

Poetry Kit - Lots and lots of information on competitions, poetry groups etc.

Poet Text - Odd one, really. Seems like an interesting site - I bookmarked it to read later, but it's a bit over-facing and slick so I never really have.

Samsara Quarterly - This e-zine looks better each issue. They have a very selective publishing policy - I have the rejection email to prove it!

Scriberazone - this is an English site which published some stuff of mine after holding it in the 'maybe' pile for a year. Interesting, pretty hp site. Can you say 'hip' anymore? I can't, not with a straight face, unless it's in the sentence 'I wonder how old you have to be before you need a hip replacement?

Shack du Art - This is one of the first poetry forums I found on the web. It's really crap, but it makes me laugh as the denizens are like mad people scrawling insane graffiti on the walls of an abandoned asylum.

Sometimes City - this is a sister publication for Stirring. An excellent e-zine, all the better for having included me in the Jan/Feb 2003 issue! UPDATE: It died. Pity.

Stirring - I've been in here three times! But, apart from those obvious lapses, this e-zine publishes some of the best poetry I've read on the web: Stop Press! One of my poems was selected for the 'Best of Stirring' section in the September 2002 issue. Woo!

Supanet.com - Mein hosts: 20mb of free space with no stoopid banners. They get my vote.

Webmonkey - Great resource - this article taught me how to make the site!
