Bio
Blimey O'Reilly - what can I say about me?
Well, I was born in 1965, which makes me 37 (rushing headlong towards
forty with all the inevitability of a small boy on a toboggan sledging
down a hill with a pine tree at the bottom - I'm gonna hit it, it's
gonna hurt).
I'm married to the wonderful Ali
- we've been together for twenty years, which really is quite a few.
Roll your mouse over the photo to see what I looked like when we first
met - the 1980's have got a lot to answer for! We have two amazing children,
Jessica
and Sam.
I live in suburbia
and love it, and work in a university
as an assistant registrar (no, I don't know what that is, either).
My favorite poets tend to be the ones I grew up reading in school anthologies
- Elliot,
Dylan
(and RS)
Thomas, Auden,
Plath,
cummings,
Larkin
and Roy Fuller. I read contemporary
poets too, but I can't remember a single one of their names.
I aspire to be able to write like Ted Hughes' Birthday
Letters, a wild tangle of private images and intimate detail written
so deftly and lucidly that his feelings become instantly accessible
to us. But, hey, that's not going to happen.
I've been posting poetry to the net for a couple of years now - the
Links section will show you where.
That's it! Me in a nutshell!
Couldn't you just eat me all up?
